When a place of business opens its doors in Hawaii, it is common to have the location blessed by a Hawaiian Kahu (guardian or minister), and Pan-Pacific’s office is no exception.
In Hawaiian culture, it is believed that kapu (taboos, curses or negative energy) can linger on a place, but that these can be cleared away by a blessing ceremony, giving the new occupants a clean start. Typical elements of the blessing ceremony include sprinkling salt water, the untying of a lei placed across the threshold, and asking for blessing from Akua (God).
Pan-Pacific Mechanical wanted to honor the local traditions as we opened this beautiful new office. See below for some pictures of the ceremony and our new space.
