    CHOC Children’s Hospital

    Orange, CA

PROJECT INFO

In order to better accommodate the growing needs of the community’s children and to become nationally recognized as a premier children’s hospital, CHOC has added a $600 million state-of-the-art patient care tower.

The new CHOC Children’s Hospital features pediatric surgical suites, emergency, laboratory, pathology, imaging and radiology services, as well as private rooms, a dynamic and family-friendly lobby, inviting outdoor gardens, a café and more.

Pan-Pacific utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 5D coordination – 3D design tied to the schedule (4D) and cost projections (5D) – to assist design and coordination on a busy operating campus, minimizing the impact of the construction process. These planning efforts ultimately led to less space required and less manpower utilized on the site. Our total mechanical package exceeded $80 million.

Like many existing hospital projects, CHOC was a busy and crowded jobsite. With this in mind, our fuel-oil specialists consolidated the design of the fuel oil system which required less space by using a very complicated piping throughway, saving both time and money for the owner. Our designers, with extensive experience, are always looking for ways to cut costs while engineering designs that exceed the owner specifications.
